Dry eye disease is a very common problem today. People can complain of grittiness, dryness, foreign body sensation, unclear vision, eye tiredness, and problems reading. It was diagnosed as a disease involving inflammation and can lead to problems if left untreated. Medical treatment involves over the counter artificial tears, in addition to other medications in the form of eye drops. Punctal plugs and ocular pulsed light are newer modalities of treatment that have proven their benefit in improving signs and symptoms of dry eye disease.
