Telemedicine; The Easiest Care from a Distance

Telemedicine is a synchronous nonclinical share of medical information between patient and his doctor. It allows the doctor to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients at a distance using telecommunications technology.

Telemedicine started mostly in psychiatry during the year of 1999, and in primary care in 2009. This health care service creates an important trust bond between the doctor and the patient, for an easy, affordable, and from distance (sessions can take place from the comfort of ones’ home) telehealth care.

To begin with, these sessions use audio with video through zoom and skype mostly, where both parties can record the session for future reference. Next, surveillance of the patient’s health condition, and follow up are important.

One of the main benefits of telemedicine is being exposed less to some viruses from the hospital’s environment with less ER surge (preserve hospital ER capacity) since most of nowadays urgent cases are related to the Covid 19 virus.

Another form of benefit is the caregiver with the nurse triage. Managing chronic diseases (accepting the disease) reminders, and tasks all help the patient’s education, and makes him/her more at ease.
Moreover, longitudinal care (holistic, dynamic, and integrated plan that documents important disease prevention and treatment goals and plans) and identifying early symptoms are important. In addition, guidance, and optimization of using guidelines are advised by the physician.

Telemedicine sessions reduce the cost and make the physician and the doctor gain time (a 40mn session can be made before a travel to an outside appointment) not forgetting that telehealth way helps diminish traffic, especially in rural areas. However, some cases might require a visit to the clinic since telemedicine will not be sufficient.

Those sessions are available now with Dr Hanina Abi Nader through Skype on hanina838 anywhere in the world. For more information, don’t hesitate to contact Dr Hanina on
